Ebbie Khan Nakhjavani is the founder and CEO of EKN Development and EKN Engineering. He is a nationally recognized expert in engineering and commercial real estate development, with over 40 years of experience and more than $7 billion in total built project valuation.
Prior to founding the EKN family of companies, Ebbie served as Manager of Engineering and Site Development for the U.S. Western Region at Melvin Simon and Associates (presently Simon Property Group). As the lead engineer at Simon, he directed the firm’s site-related design, entitlements, and construction management for more than 50 retail and mixed-use projects, including The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, Mall of America, and Del Amo Fashion Center.
Ebbie also previously founded Terrafirma Development in 1995 with a focus on retail, multifamily, and office projects. He later co-founded York Capital and partnered in Transit Real Estate Development (TRED), which held exclusive rights to develop all real estate related to the Las Vegas Monorail and XpressWest—the proposed high-speed rail between Las Vegas and Southern California. Closely collaborating with Caesars Entertainment and other major stakeholders in Las Vegas, Ebbie led York Capital in association with TRED to advance many development and transportation projects. His efforts included securing a $100 million line of credit with First Interstate Bank (FIB) and spearheading the acquisition and predevelopment of Desert Gateway, a proposed 50,000-acre master-planned community in Southern California to include 1,200 acres of commercial mixed-use and 60,000 residential units.
He then contracted with CTC Global to exclusively distribute its patented ACCC Conductor for high-voltage electrical transmission lines in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Russia. Liaising between CTC, ministries of energy, and electrical power companies, Ebbie worked to solve national deployment and upgrade challenges, establish manufacturing in Egypt and Bahrain, and successfully introduce the ACCC Conductor in more than 10 countries.
Ebbie holds a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Civil Engineering from San Diego State University. He is also a registered Professional Engineer (PE) with the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) and is currently licensed in the States of California, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Hawaii, Utah, and New Mexico.
